The 2016 St. James Court Art Show High School Scholarship Competition

The St. James Court Art Show H.S. Scholarship Competition began in 1978 with a single pledge of $1,000 to one student artist. Over the past 37 years the St. James Court Art Show has awarded $330,550.00 scholarship dollars to 204 talented young students from the Louisville Metro area! On September 25, 2016 we will award $28,000 in scholarships for winning portfolios in painting, illustration, and sculpture.  These generous scholarships are sponsored by four Old Louisville Neighborhood Associations.  We would like to recognize the St. James Court Neighborhood Association, South 4th Street Association, Third Street Neighborhood Association and the 1300 Association for their loyalty and commitment to the arts and education.

The High School Scholarship Competition is modeled after the professional jury process used for the official St. James Court Art Show.  A Jury panel of professional working artists is hired to review each portfolio.  The annual competition is open to seniors from public, private and independent high schools in Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Bullitt counties in Kentucky and Clark and Floyd counties in Southern Indiana as well as seniors outside the school system who are receiving art instruction from a professional art educator.  Seniors who are home-schooled are eligible to participate but must be instructed by and submit work through an art educator.  Please refer to the 2016 H.S. Scholarship Submission Guidelines and Portfolio identification & ENTRY FORM 2016.
