2024 St. James Court Art Show Poster

This year, the art show partnered with the Kentucky College of Art + Design (KyCAD) to produce the official poster for the 68th annual St. James Court Art Show. Students of KyCAD submitted their designs and the winning poster was unveiled during the press conference.

Artist, Jada Lynn Dixon, a graduate of KyCAD was chosen as the winning artist. In crafting the poster for the St. James Court Art Show, Dixon sought to capture not just the essence of the event but also the profound impact that art can have on one’s life. The poster features the iconic court fountain, a triumphant woman in St. James Court, depicted through gentle, flowing strokes of watercolor. This medium was chosen intentionally for its calming effect and peaceful aesthetic, reflecting the serene beauty that art brings to our world.

The 2024 Poster Contest was sponsored by Michael Mawood, RE/MAX.

The 2024 poster will be available for purchase at the 68th Annual St. James Court Show taking place on Friday, October 4th, Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th.

Artist Statement

In crafting the poster for the St. James Court Art Show, I sought to capture not just the essence of the event but also the profound impact that art can have on our lives. The poster features the iconic court fountain, a triumphant woman in St. James Court, depicted through gentle, flowing strokes of watercolor. This medium was chosen intentionally for its calming effect and peaceful aesthetic, reflecting the serene beauty that art brings to our world.

To me, art transcends mere visual pleasure; it serves as a powerful force for healing and unity. The fluidity of watercolor mirrors the way art can soften the edges of our daily struggles, offering solace and tranquility. The image of the triumphant woman at the fountain symbolizes resilience and grace, qualities that resonate deeply with the transformative potential of art.

Art, in its many forms, crosses cultural boundaries and speaks to the shared human experience. It acts as a universal language, capable of bridging gaps between different societies and fostering understanding. Through this poster, I aim to embody the idea that art is not just a reflection of our world but a catalyst for connection and healing.

In essence, overall my work is driven by the belief that art is a vital force for bringing people together, offering comfort, and celebrating the richness of our diverse cultures. The St. James Court Art Show, with its celebration of creativity and community, perfectly embodies these ideals, and I am honored to contribute to this dialogue through my design.
